Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

ALIGNMENT ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Hikida Consulting, incorporated in British Columbia, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the ALIGNMENT mobile application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

The App is intended for users aged 16 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16.

3. Information We Collect

A. Account Information

  • Email address
  • Full name (optional)
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Profile information (height, weight, date of birth, timezone)
  • Subscription tier

B. Health & Fitness Data

If enabled by you, we collect:

  • Calorie intake and nutrition data
  • Weight entries
  • Body fat percentage
  • Workout history
  • Exercise performance
  • Heart rate and heart rate variability
  • Steps and activity data
  • Sleep data
  • Active and basal energy burned
  • Distance and workout routes

This information is used solely to provide fitness tracking and progress insights.

Apple HealthKit: Health data accessed through Apple HealthKit is used solely to provide fitness tracking features within the App. HealthKit data is not used for advertising, is not sold to data brokers or third parties, and is not shared with any third party for purposes unrelated to providing health and fitness services to you.

C. Location Data

When tracking outdoor workouts, we collect precise location data to record routes and distance. Location tracking may continue in the background during active workouts. You may disable location permissions in your device settings.

D. Photos & Camera Data

If you use AI food scanning features, we process:

  • Food photos (camera or photo library)
  • Text meal descriptions
  • Barcode data from food product scanning used for nutritional lookup

Photos are processed in real time for analysis and are not permanently stored after processing.

E. AI Processing

Food images and descriptions are transmitted securely to our server infrastructure and then to third-party AI providers (e.g., Anthropic and OpenAI) to generate nutrition estimates. We do not use user content to train our own models. AI providers process data solely to provide requested services.

AI request logs are retained for up to 7 days for abuse prevention and security. Temporary response caches are retained for up to 24 hours.

F. Social & Community Data

If you use social features, we collect:

  • Friend connections and friend codes
  • Activity posts (workout summaries you choose to share)
  • Likes on activity posts
  • Blocked user and reported post records

Workout summaries you share are visible only to your accepted friends.

G. Subscription & Payment Information

Subscriptions are processed exclusively by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store credit card or billing information.

H. Advertising Data

Free-tier users may see non-personalized advertisements served by Google AdMob. We do not use tracking identifiers or personalized advertising.

  • App usage data
  • Crash diagnostics (limited)

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide fitness and nutrition tracking services
  • Sync HealthKit data (if authorized)
  • Deliver AI-based analysis features
  • Enable social and community features
  • Manage subscriptions
  • Serve non-personalized ads (free tier)
  • Improve security and prevent abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell personal information.

Where applicable, we process personal information based on:

  • User consent
  • Performance of a contract (providing the App)
  • Legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention)
  • Legal obligations

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information until you delete your account. Upon deletion:

  • Account data is permanently deleted
  • Associated records are cascade-deleted
  • AI logs are automatically purged after 7 days
  • AI cache entries expire within 12–24 hours

7. Data Sharing

We may share data with:

  • Supabase — Cloud infrastructure provider
  • AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) — Food analysis
  • USDA FoodData Central — Food barcode and search queries for nutritional data
  • Google AdMob — Non-personalized advertising
  • Apple — Subscription processing

We do not sell or rent personal information.

8. Security

We use encrypted HTTPS connections and role-based database security (RLS). While we implement reasonable safeguards, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

  • Access your data
  • Request correction
  • Request deletion
  • Withdraw consent
  • Request portability

You may delete your account in-app at any time.

10. International Transfers

Data may be stored or processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of changes.
